WHY PSYCHOSEXOLOGY?

If in Romania, addressing human sexuality in an organized scientific framework has started relatively recently in the field of sexology, psychosexology is almost non-existent.

Due to a complex causality, beginning with the cultural paradigm and ending with the educational level of development and modernity, sexuality is still a “taboo” area, timidly approached both in the scientific environment and in the educational process in schools.

In a rapidly growing postmodern society, which outweighs the quality of life in all its aspects, we can not ignore the need to study sexuality from a interdisciplinary scientific perspective, focused on sustainable development of the human personality.

Although the scientific world recognizes the importance of psychic component in sexuality, the field of psychosexology was weakly outlined until now from the research, counseling, therapy and educational points of view. It was therefore natural that the field of “Psychosexology” appeared as a rigorous scientific discipline that meets the requirements of the complex human being of the XXI century.

A group of specialists in psychology, with interests in this direction, have started this project, which is intended to be interdisciplinary, and is designed to provide a basis for research, education and counseling to the specialists interested, and to the general public – the ultimate beneficiary of APSR’s activity.

THE GOAL OF APSR:

THE ROMANIAN ASSOCIATION FOR PSYCHOSEXOLOGY aims to improve the quality of life, to promote human values in the field of couple relationships and human sexuality, to educate in order to achieve personal and professional development and improved health status for a balanced human life.

Creating an appropriate organizational framework to promote modern educational, consultancy and advisory models, recognized at national, European and/or international levels for their effectiveness.

Creating an appropriate framework for the information, counseling and development of the population and for the information, personal and professional development of practitioners and trainers.

Promoting the development of psychology as a science and profession, with the objective of increasing the quality of life.

SOME OF THE OBJECTIVES:

To promote the image of the psychologist profession and increase its role in society.

To continuously improve the psychologist's status and the perception of its role in society.

To promote the role of psychosexology in maintaining and improving physical and psychical life and in raising the quality of life through education and counseling.

To promote research in psychology and psychosexology.

To develop the field of psychosexology and a joint approach with specialists in sexology.

To train and prepare specialists in psychology and psychosexology in accordance with European and international standards.

To develop the field of psychosexology through specialization and continuous education and improvement and through promoting research and collaboration between national and international specialists.

To develop partnerships and joint programs and projects with other similar European or international organizations.

To collaborate with institutions, organizations, educational and research units, with national and international experts from various fields, in order to continuously raise the level of knowledge, personal and professional training and increase the quality of life.

To organize training courses for continuing education and training of adults, initiation, qualification, perfectioning, specialization, and various other types of courses for adults, youth and children, etc.
